Susu
FinTech · Personal Finance · Ghana
Susu is Edbrayne's own financial platform — designed and built from the ground up in Ho, Ghana. It gives individuals a structured, transparent place to save, and lays the infrastructure for group savings circles, fixed deposits, and credit products as the platform grows. Individual savings is live and running with real users today.

Most savings tools available to everyday Ghanaians are either informal and unaccountable, or bank-grade and inaccessible. The informal susu (rotating savings circle) is deeply trusted culturally — but it runs on verbal agreements, paper ledgers, and personal trust. When a member misses a contribution or a payout is disputed, there is no record to refer to. Meanwhile, traditional banks set minimum balances and documentation requirements that shut out the majority of working adults.
What was missing was something in the middle: a digital platform that preserved the discipline and community of traditional savings culture, but added structure, identity verification, and a real-time ledger — without the friction of a full banking relationship.
Our Solution
Susu was built to meet people where they are. The entry point is individual savings: a user creates an account with just their name and phone number, receives a one-time code to log in (no password to forget), and can immediately set up a personal savings goal with a target amount and timeline. Every deposit is logged. Progress is visible. The dashboard shows exactly where you stand.
From that foundation, the platform is architected to grow. Group savings cycles — where members contribute set amounts on a schedule and receive payouts in rotation — are the next layer. Fixed deposit products and loan facilities follow. KYC verification, which users complete once, is the mechanism that unlocks higher-trust features like receiving payouts and accessing credit. It protects every participant without gating the entry experience.
The technical architecture was built with this roadmap in mind from day one: a modular ledger layer, role-based access, and KYC state management that can support individual, group, and institutional savings products without a rebuild.
